Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is celebrated annually in May to recognize all of the Asian continents and Pacific Islands. The celebratory month originated through Congress with the passing of House Joint Resolution 1007 in 1978 which proposed that the President dedicate a week in May to Asian Pacific American heritage.
